The Construction Process

Here is how a gunite pool gets built, step by step:

• Design and planning: We plan the size, shape, features and location of the pool, and pull the permits.
• Excavation: We dig the hole.
• Steel reinforcement: Steel bars (rebar) go in. They are the skeleton that gives the pool its strength.
• Gunite or shotcrete: Concrete is sprayed over the steel to form the walls and floor.
• Plumbing and electrical: Pipes, pump, filter, lights and wiring go in.
• Finishing: Once the concrete cures, we apply the plaster and set the tile and coping.
• Landscaping: The area around the pool gets its final look.

Every gunite pool follows this path. A typical build takes 8–12 weeks, depending on the size and complexity of your project.

The Fiberglass Process — Swimming in 2–4 Weeks

Fiberglass is faster. The shell arrives from the factory as one finished piece:

• Pick your model: Choose from the California-built 2026 Latham lineup. We bring color samples and options pricing to your yard.
• Plans and permits: We handle both while the factory builds your shell.
• Excavation: Usually 1–2 days for a standard dig.
• Set day: The shell arrives by truck and a crane sets it in place. Your pool takes shape in one day. We have set two pools in one day.
• Leveling, plumbing and backfill: We level the shell, connect the pipes, and backfill while it fills with water. That keeps the pressure even on both sides.
• Equipment and electrical: Pump, filter and equipment pad go in, plumbed and bonded.
• Concrete decking: We form and pour the included 3' brushed-concrete band, or your upgraded decking.
• Startup and pool school: We fill, balance and start the system. Then we show you every valve and setting before we hand it over.

Either way you build, you get a written schedule up front, updates as we go, and a full walkthrough at the end. And here is your protection: under California law, the down payment is capped at the lesser of 10% or $1,000 — for a pool, that's $1,000. We bill only after work is done.
