Our turnkey installs cover the Central Valley. But the shells themselves can go anywhere in California. Maybe you're an owner-builder. Maybe you're a licensed contractor without a Latham account. Or maybe you're just too far out for our crew. Either way, we'll sell you the same California-molded shell we'd install ourselves — and tell you honestly what you're taking on. We buy those shells factory-direct as the Central Valley's Latham pool dealer, so a shell-only order comes off the same current-year factory pricing our installed jobs use.
Three ways to take on a fiberglass pool
Shell only — you run the project
We supply the California-built Latham shell of your choice, factory-direct from the Williams, CA plant. You arrange freight, pull the owner-builder permit, and manage the dig, set, plumbing, equipment and decking. This path is the most work. Read the warranty box below before you choose it.
Hybrid — we do the licensed parts
The most popular owner-builder path. Our crew (or a Latham approved installer) handles the excavation and shell set. Those parts need a license, a crane and factory-spec work. You do the decking, fencing and finish work yourself. The warranty survives, and the hardest risks are off your plate.
Turnkey — we do it all
Inside our Central Valley service area, compare the turnkey installed option before you commit to doing it yourself. Add up freight, excavation, set, equipment and decking on your side. The gap is smaller than most people expect.
What shell-only is — and isn't
Every shell ships factory-direct through our Latham Grand Dealer account — the same California-molded shells we install ourselves.
Included: the Latham fiberglass shell in the standard G2 color finish (Crystite G3 upgrade available), ordered factory-direct through our Grand Dealer account from Latham’s Williams, California plant.
Not included — so plan for them: freight from the plant (you arrange and pay it, quoted for your address), excavation, crane and set, plumbing, equipment, electrical, backfill, decking, and the permit. You pull the permit yourself as an owner-builder.
Read this before you owner-build
The warranty is only valid if a Latham approved installer sets the pool. That is Latham’s rule, not ours. A pure self-install gives up the limited lifetime structural warranty. Many owner-builders split the difference. They hire an approved installer for the dig and set, then do the decking and finish work themselves. Tell us your plan. We’ll tell you what it does to the warranty before you spend a dollar.

If our crew does any site work, California’s home-improvement contract law applies: $1,000 maximum down, billed only after work is done.
Owner-builder questions, answered straight
Can I really buy just the pool shell from you?
Yes. We sell every California-built Latham model shell-only. We order it factory-direct through our Grand Dealer account from Latham's Williams, California plant. It can be delivered anywhere in the state. It's the same shell we'd install ourselves.
How much is a fiberglass pool shell only?
Shell pricing is quoted per model and delivery address. Tell us the model (or your yard size) and where the project is. You'll get a written shell quote with the current factory lead time and a freight estimate for your address. No obligation, no runaround.
Is freight included?
No. Freight is the buyer's job. It is arranged at time of purchase and quoted for your exact address and escort needs. We'll help you set it up.
Does installing it myself void the Latham warranty?
This is the one thing you must not skip: the warranty is only valid if a Latham approved installer sets the pool. A pure owner-build gives up that coverage. Many owner-builders hire an approved installer for the set itself and do the rest themselves. Ask us about your exact plan before you buy.
Who pulls the permit on an owner-builder pool?
You do. On a shell-only purchase, the permit is the owner's. You pull it from your local building department as an owner-builder project. How pool permits work →
Can you set the shell or dig the hole for me?
Tell us where the project is and what you want to do yourself. Whether our crew can serve it depends on distance and scope. We'll give you a straight answer. The moment our crew does any site work, the project becomes a California home-improvement contract: $1,000 maximum down by law, billed only after work is done.
Do you sell standalone spa and tanning-ledge shells too?
Yes. California-molded Latham spa shells and tanning-ledge shells are sold shell-only as well. Mention them in your inquiry and we'll quote them with the pool.
