Our turnkey installs cover the Central Valley — but the shells themselves can go anywhere in California. If you're an owner-builder, a licensed contractor without a Latham account, or simply too far out for our crew, we'll sell you the same California-molded shell we'd install ourselves — and tell you honestly what you're taking on.
Three ways to take on a fiberglass pool
Shell only — you run the project
We supply the California-built Latham shell of your choice, factory-direct from the Williams, CA plant. You arrange freight, pull the owner-builder permit, and manage the dig, set, plumbing, equipment and decking. The most sweat equity — read the warranty box below before you choose it.
Hybrid — we do the licensed parts
The most popular owner-builder path: our crew (or a Latham approved installer) handles the excavation and shell set — the parts that need a license, a crane and factory-spec workmanship — and you self-perform decking, fencing and finish work. The warranty survives, and the hardest risks are off your plate.
Turnkey — we do it all
Inside our Central Valley service area, compare the turnkey installed option before you commit to self-performing — once freight, excavation, set, equipment and decking are on your side of the ledger, the gap is smaller than most people expect.
What shell-only is — and isn't
Included: the Latham fiberglass shell in the standard G2 color finish (Crystite G3 upgrade available), ordered factory-direct through our Grand Dealer account from Latham’s Williams, California plant.
Not included — so plan for them: freight from the plant (arranged and paid by you, quoted for your address), excavation, crane and set, plumbing, equipment, electrical, backfill, decking, and the permit — which you pull yourself as an owner-builder.
Read this before you owner-build
Warranty is only valid if installed by a Latham approved installer. That is Latham’s rule, not ours — a pure self-install gives up the limited lifetime structural warranty. Many owner-builders split the difference: hire an approved installer for the excavation-and-set, self-perform decking and finish work. Tell us your plan and we’ll tell you what it does to the warranty before you spend a dollar.

Owner-builder questions, answered straight
Can I really buy just the pool shell from you?
Yes — we sell every California-built Latham model shell-only, ordered factory-direct through our Grand Dealer account from Latham's Williams, California plant, and delivered anywhere in the state. It's the same shell we'd install ourselves.
How much is a fiberglass pool shell only?
Shell pricing is quoted per model and delivery address — tell us the model (or your yard size) and where the project is, and you'll get a written shell quote with the current factory lead time and a freight estimate for your address. No obligation, no runaround.
Is freight included?
No — freight is the buyer's responsibility, arranged at time of purchase and quoted for your specific address and escort requirements. We'll help you set it up.
Does installing it myself void the Latham warranty?
This is the one thing you must not skip: warranty is only valid if installed by a Latham approved installer. A pure owner-build gives up that coverage. Many owner-builders hire an approved installer for the set itself and self-perform the rest — ask us about your specific plan before you buy.
Who pulls the permit on an owner-builder pool?
You do — on a shell-only purchase the permit is the owner's, pulled from your local building department as an owner-builder project. How pool permits work →
Can you set the shell or dig the hole for me?
Tell us where the project is and what you want to self-perform — whether our crew can serve it depends on distance and scope, and we'll give you a straight answer. The moment our crew performs any site work, the project becomes a California home-improvement contract: $1,000 maximum down by law, billed only after work is done.
Do you sell standalone spa and tanning-ledge shells too?
Yes — California-molded Latham spa shells and tanning-ledge shells are available shell-only as well. Mention them in your inquiry and we'll quote them alongside the pool.
