How Long Does It Take to Build a Pool?
Real timelines, including the parts other builders leave out.
The honest answer has two parts: the part before the dig (design and permits) and the build itself. Here's how both actually run.
Before the dig: design + permits
Model/design selection can happen in a single consultation. Permitting is the wild card — it varies by city and county, typically a few weeks. We produce the plans and run the permit process for every project, so your only job is picking finishes.
The build: fiberglass
2–4 weeks for most installs. Excavation takes a day or two, the shell sets by crane in a single day (we've set two pools in one day), then leveling, plumbing, equipment, and the concrete deck. Full step-by-step on the construction process page.
The build: gunite
8–12 weeks typically: excavation, steel, plumbing rough-in, gunite shell, cure time, tile and coping, decking, plaster, fill and startup.
What actually delays pools
- Permits — start the paperwork early; we do this the day you sign.
- Change orders mid-build — decisions made up front keep the schedule; that's why our estimates itemize every option with a price before you commit.
- Weather — less of a factor in the Valley than almost anywhere, but concrete and plaster still respect the thermometer.
