How Much Does a Pool Cost in the Central Valley?
What the number buys, what moves it, and how to make it work.
Before the number, know what it buys. A pool from us is a California-built Latham fiberglass shell with a limited lifetime structural warranty, set in a single day by a licensed crew (CSLB #1139527). Excavation, equipment, freight, engineered plans and the permit are inside the price, and California law caps your down payment at $1,000. Here is what goes into that number, what moves it, and how owners make it work.
What “turnkey” actually includes
This is where pool prices usually fall apart. A low number often covers half the job. The other half arrives as change orders. Ours includes:
- The Latham fiberglass shell, molded at Latham's Williams, California plant
- Excavation and haul-off of the spoils
- The full equipment set — pump, filter and plumbing
- Standard freight from the Williams plant to your yard
- A 3-foot band of brushed concrete decking around the pool
- Engineered plans
- Permitting
- Sales tax
Some things are truly extra: added decking, lighting, tile upgrades, covers, heaters and automation. Every option is shown on each model page, and the ones you pick are priced in writing before you sign.
The 2026 numbers
Across all 47 California-built models, a turnkey installed Latham fiberglass pool runs $60,995 to $127,995 in our service area. That is the installed price, not a shell price.

What actually moves your final number
Four things, honestly:
- Where you are. We serve up to two hours from our Hanford shop and price closest first. Hanford, Lemoore, Kingsburg and Corcoran are the shortest runs. Visalia, Tulare and Selma sit a step out. Fresno, Clovis, Sanger, Avenal and Coalinga are the longest. Standard freight is included at every one of them — see the service area.
- Site access. The shell arrives in one piece on a truck and is set with a crane. So it has to fly over the house or come down the side yard. If the crane can reach the hole, cost is normal. Narrow side yards, overhead lines and tight corner lots are the most common reason a quote moves.
- Soil. Valley clay is usually good digging. Hardpan, a high water table, or fill from an old structure changes excavation.
- What you add. Decking beyond the standard 3-foot band is the most common upgrade. It is also the biggest reason two “pool prices” from two companies aren't comparable. Always ask what decking is included.
What a national pool-cost calculator won't tell you
Search “inground pool cost” and you'll land on national estimator sites. They quote a wide national range and an “average” pool price. That range isn't wrong, exactly. It's just not useful, for three reasons:
- It isn't priced for the Valley. Freight from the shell plant, local excavation rates and county fees are all regional. A national average blends Fresno with Florida.
- It doesn't say what's included. The gap between a shell-only number and a turnkey number is tens of thousands of dollars. The calculators rarely say which one they're quoting.
- Nobody stands behind it. No company's name is on that number. Ours is on every written estimate we hand you.
A range tells you the market exists. A written, itemized estimate for your yard tells you what your pool actually takes.
Five questions to ask any pool builder before you sign
Use these on us too — that's the point:
- “What's your license number, and is it active?” Ours is CSLB #1139527, C-53 and C-61/D-35. You can verify it on the state's site in about thirty seconds.
- “What deposit are you asking for?” California caps it at the lesser of 10% or $1,000. A bigger ask is a legal problem, not a negotiation.
- “Is decking included, and how much?” This is where two quotes stop being comparable. Ours includes a 3-foot band. Anything more is priced separately and shown to you before you sign.
- “Is the permit included, and who pulls it?” Ours is included, and we pull it — here's the whole process.
- “When do I pay, and for what?” We bill only for work already completed, on a draw schedule tied to real progress. You should never pay ahead of the job with anyone.

We specialize in Latham fiberglass because of what it gives an owner over the life of the pool. It installs in 2–4 weeks instead of the 8–12 a poured pool takes. The non-porous gelcoat means fewer chemicals and no replastering, ever. And the shell carries Latham's limited lifetime structural warranty. California's payment law is on your side
Worth knowing before you sign anything, with anyone:
A licensed California contractor may collect a down payment of no more than the lesser of 10% of the contract price or $1,000 — whichever is smaller.
On a $60,000 pool that is $1,000. Not $6,000. And certainly not the 20–30% some outfits ask for. If a contractor asks for a large deposit up front, that alone tells you they are not following California law. We also bill only for work already completed. So you are never paying ahead of the job.
Financing, in real monthly numbers
Most of our clients finance through HFS Financial: fixed rates from 7.8% APR, loans to $450,000, terms out to 30 years, and no lien on your home. Checking your rate is a soft credit pull. What it costs to find out
Nothing. We come out, look at the yard, and check access and soil. Then we hand you a written itemized estimate with the real number on it. If the number works, you start with $1,000 down — that's the law, and it's our practice. If it doesn't work, you've lost nothing. Would you rather start from the pool?
